Pokémon Go Event Challenges Players to Catch 3 Billion Pokémon for Limited-Time Rewards

Running now until the end of the week.

Pokemon Go studio Niantic has today announced a new event[2] for dedicated Pokemon Go players, which the developer has dubbed its “first-ever Global Catch Challenge.” Players will be challenged to catch a combined three billion Pokemon in just seven days, and there will be a variety of awards unlocked should the community reach key milestones during the challenge.

The rewards on offer for the Global Catch Challenge. Interestingly the ambitious total is 30 times larger than Pokemon Sun and Moon’s first similarly-themed “Global Mission” held in December last year.

3DS players were challenged to capture 100 million Pokemon shortly after the game’s release but were unable to meet the goal.

The Pokemon Go Global Catch Challenge begins now and will wrap up on November 26.

He’s on Twitter @MrLukeReilly[3] but definitely don’t ask him anything about Pokemon.
