Survivor Series: New Day vs. The Shield Match Results

AJ Styles vs. Brock Lesnar, plus Triple H, Kurt Angle, John Cena, and more! Check out the match results for Survivor Series as they come in.

Time to get your Survivor Series on!

Tonight is all about the battle for WWE brand supremacy as RAW roster faces off against the guys and gals from SmackDown Live in a strangely-stacked card (Triple H, Angle, Shane, Cena, etc) featuring AJ Styles squaring off Brock Lesnar, Charlotte Flair taking on Alexa Bliss, The Usos battling The Bar, two huge 5-on-5 Elimination matches, and more!

I’ll have the results posting for you here all night, along with my quick thoughts and reactions to each match, so stick around, chat with your neighbors down in the comments, and follow me over at @TheMattFowler[2] as I live-tweet the event as well.

Matt Hardy vs. Elias (Kickoff Match)

I’ve decided to pace myself here. We’ve got three matches before the main four-hour show (gah!) even begins (two of which were added a little over an hour ago) so I want to preserve my precious attention.

This was a fine warm up the (meager) crowd match, though it’s more important as a win for Elias – who recently had to lose a Guitar on a Pole match to Jason Jordon for the sake of getting Jordan on Team RAW. And Jordan’s no longer on Team RAW. So Elias needed a gimme here.

He worked over Matt’s arm until he eventually laid him out with the Drift Away.

It was all worth it just to hear Renee call Elias “The Drifter” afterwards. Winner: Elias

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore vs. Kalisto (Kickoff Match)

As a casual (or not at all) watcher of 205 Live, this match existed to inform me that Enzo is still feuding with Kalisto.

And that there’s been cake involved. Honestly, I had no idea. And since that was that case, that the two of these guys are still feuding, that means that they’re definitely nowhere near ready to take the belt off Enzo.

And honestly, it might be the best thing given the eyes Enzo’s mouth might be bringing to that show.

Survivor Series: New Day vs. The Shield Match Results

Standard warm up match. Nothing to write home about (or even tweet out about). There was some clumsiness at the end involving an exposed middle turnbuckle and Enzo wound up with the win.

Winner, and still WWE Cruiserweight Champion: Enzo Amore

Breezango vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn (Kickoff Match)

First off – when’s the last time Breezango was actually in a televised match. It feels like quite a while.

Secondly, I don’t mind having Zayn and Owens on the pre-show. It’s better than being left off the card completely (which Jinder is, though he just popped up on the pre-show to smirk at AJ), but honestly I would have been okay with that too. It fits their current story.

Sometimes you take a hit for the sake of an angle. Plus, when you throw in the trouble these two supposedly got into overseas – well – it’s Kickoff Match detention time.

Did anyone go “off script” tonight? Who knows?

All we know is that Owens got the pin after a Popup Powerbomb and that’s all she wrote. Winners: Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

The Shield vs. The New Day

A helluva match to start things off!

If Hell in a Cell taught us anything it’s that it’s a smart move to kick off a PPV with a big New Day match. There were a few hinky moments in the back third of the match when the ref all of a sudden counted Seth and Kofi as being the legal men when they weren’t, but since the moment didn’t lead to a finish it was easy enough to skip past.

I was pulling for New Day here, even though they were the underdogs and there was no way Shield was losing after not being able to be the full Shield back at TLC – but I’d also argue that New Day is the more practiced and accomplished three man team. I could see them winning.

Alas. This awesome opener ended with Kofi taking a Triple Powerbomb off the middle rope. Winners: The Shield
