“You don’t do it forever.”

With Justice League[2] opening in theaters this Friday and a possible trilogy of Batman films from director Matt Reeves on the horizon, Ben Affleck shed light on what the future holds for his role as the Dark Knight. Speaking to USA Today[3], Affleck said Reeves’ upcoming Batman movie is “something I’m contemplating.”

Exit Theatre Mode

The actor, who was originally on board to direct the Batman-focused DC film, went on to discuss his eventual departure from the role, saying, “You don’t do it forever, so I want to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it.” Rumors surfaced earlier this year that Affleck was looking to exit the DCEU[4], however the actor cast doubt on such claims[5] at at Comic-Con, expressing his excitement continue in the role, saying he’s “the luckiest guy in the world.”

Justice League opens in theaters on November 17. The film is tracking to open less than Batman v Superman[6], but ahead of Wonder Woman. Thanks to substantial reshoots, the movie boasts a reported production budget that’s climbed to nearly £300 million[7].
