Batman #50 – £4.99

Batman and Catwoman Are Getting Married This Week (Or Are They?)

Writer Tom King | Various Artists | Cover Mikel Janin (DC Comics)

Wedding bells are ringing throughout Gotham City this week as we finally reach the wedding of Batman and Catwoman. Batman has forever pledged himself to protecting his city, but this story seeks to find out if he can truly move beyond that and instead pledge himself to the one woman he truly loves. As nice as that sounds, this is a comic book wedding, so naturally we’re expecting things to go horribly, horribly wrong.

Note that this is an extra-sized issue featuring a massive lineup of different Batman artists: David Finch, Joelle Jones, Mitch Gerads, Rafael Albuquerque, Neal Adams, Andy Kubert, Becky Cloonan, Ty Templeton, Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, Frank Miller, Lee Bermejo, and Mikel Janin.

Catwoman #1 – £3.99

Writer/Artist Joelle Jones (DC Comics) And spinning out of the events of Batman #50 is a brand-new Catwoman series by none other than Joelle Jones, who Dark Horse readers will know from her smashing Lady Killers series and DC fans will recognize as the artist of Supergirl: Being Super and a select few issues of Tom King’s Batman run. While we don’t know what will happen in the wedding, we do know what Selina Kyle will have her hands busy in this series dealing with a Catwoman copycat, a debacle with the GPCD, and an original villain making trouble in Gotham.

Whatever you do, you’ll want to read Batman #50 first before diving into Catwoman #1, just like Selina recommends on the cover.

Captain America #1 – £4.99

Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates | Artist Leinil Francis Yu | Cover Alex Ross (Marvel Comics) Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates has been absolutely slaying it on Black Panther, so we’re beyond excited to see what he’s going to do on Captain America with Leinil Francis Yu. Not that you need reminding, but America isn’t quite what it used to be these days, so in these desperate times we’re looking to Coates’ grand sense of vision and profound authorial skills to use Cap to tell a story that needs to be told.

We’ve already read this issue and can say that it is intently focused on America’s loss of faith in Steve Rogers after the Hydra Cap takeover, and most significantly, it shows just how hard it is to be Captain America in today’s political climate.

Keep reading for Cosmic Ghost Rider, Star Wars, and more!
