Android Q: What will Google call Android 10?

Hi, Android Pie. Google has finally lifted the lid on the latest version of its ever-popular mobile operating system, and the big update is beginning to do the rounds on a number of smartphones. Bringing with it a wealth of new features, Android Pie is Google’s most fleshed-out OS yet, but we aren’t here to talk about Pie.

As tasty of an upgrade as it may be, this article is about Pie’s successor – Android Q. Although, in fact, very little is known about the tenth version of Android at this early stage.

We don’t even have a name, although Google is typically rather tight-lipped about what the latest version is called right up until it’s inevitable release. Following the tried and tested naming structure however, we know Android 10’s dessert-themed title will start with Q, and that puts Google in a rather tricky position – there simply aren’t many options to choose from.

Still, that hasn’t stopped us putting our heads together and coming up with a – admittedly rather short – list of what Android Q might be called when it releases sometime next year.

Android Q: Everything you need to know

Android Q name: What will it be called?

Android 10 Quality Street A name reserved for British fans, Android Quality Street is the best we could come up with. That certainly says a lot about the rest of the list, doesn’t it?

It would however, be a good opportunity for Google to turn the Android Droid into a green triangle. Android 10 Quiche

Okay, while quiche might not be synonymous with sweet treats – what about caramelised onions? – this is another of our best efforts. A picnic staple, and a personal favourite food of mine, I’d be very happy if Google followed the quiche train.

Android 10 Qottab Heading back to sweet foods, a qottab is a deep-fried Iranian pastry, filled with cardamom and powdered sugar. It’s sort of a middle eastern doughnut, and is particularly tasty.

Android 10 Queen of Puddings Yet another British dessert, the Queen of Puddings is made up of a breadcrumb-like mixture, topped with jam and cream. No, I’ve never heard of it either.

Thanks, Wikipedia. Android 10 Quesito A filled pastry from the far-flung shores of Puerto Rico, a quesito is filled with a combination of cheese and vanilla cream, sometimes mixed with fruits such as papaya and guava.

Android 10: Quinoa

Android Q: What will Google call Android 10?

The version of Android hipsters all over the world have been waiting for, Quinoa is as far from a dessert as they come. Still, very few foods begin with Q, so we’re clutching at straws here – can you tell? History of Android names

Android Q features: What will it bring?

It’s another Android update, so expect Android Q to launch with a load of new improvements and a handful of exciting new features.

At this very early stage, information is rather thin on the ground – so here’s a list of things we would like to see, instead:

  • Assisted dialling: Phone automatically detects country’s dialling code
  • Enhanced call blocking: Automatically blocks unknown, private and pay phone numbers
  • Upgraded printer support: Connecting to printers via WiFi direct
  • Desktop experience: Similar to Samsung’s Dex
  • Multi-monitor support for tablets
  • Password protected folders
  • Pre-installed file manager
