SimpliSafe Now Works With Google Assistant

SimpliSafe’s smart home security system just got some extra smarts. Already compatible with Amazon Alexa, the new SimpliSafe now works with Google Assistant as well. With this new integration, you can control your SimpliSafe home security system with your voice via Google Assistant-powered devices such as the Google Home and Home Mini.

When you’re heading out the door, for instance, just say “Hey Google, set the security system to Away,” which will activate entry sensors and motion sensors.

Then, when you arrive back home, say “Hey Google, arm SimpliSafe to Home,” which activates all your sensors minus motion sensors, closes your camera shutter for privacy, and locks any integrated smart locks. When you say “Hey Google, turn on the security system,” the virtual assistant will ask you which mode you want to set. You can also ask “Hey Google, is the security system armed?” or “Hey Google, am I protected?”

Note that the integration is only compatible with the new SimpliSafe, which earned PCMag’s Editors’ Choice Award for its “affordable hardware, reasonable monthly monitoring fees,” and “quick, easy installation.” To set it up, you’ll need to enable the integration in both the Google Assistant and SimpliSafe apps.

“SimpliSafe is on a mission to make every home secure,” Founder and CEO Chad Laurans said in a statement. “This integration with the Google Assistant gives our customers even more options for easy and intuitive system arming.”

Meanwhile, SimpliSafe also recently announced integrations with August Smart Locks and Apple Watch.
