This is what Apple won't announce at its October 2018 event

Apple recently announced it an October event, and thanks to a well-respected industry insider, we know what the company likely won’t unveil during the show.

What Apple won’t announce

According to Ming-Chi Kuo (via 9to5Mac), a TF International Securities supply chain analyst who has accurately predicted much of Apple’s hardware plans over the past few years, Apple doesn’t plan to announce its updated fifth-generation iPad Mini until sometime in 2019. The device is expected to feature an upgraded processor and a lower-cost panel. Keep in mind the iPad Mini hasn’t been updated since the iPad Mini 4 in 2015.

Kuo also said the AirPower won’t arrive until late 2018 or early 2019 for the AirPower charging mat. Same goes for the AirPod update and its Qi-compatible case. He wasn’t clear about whether those will be discussed at the event, but from what we can surmise, they won’t.

What Apple will announce

As for what Apple will announce, Kuo said we can expect two updated iPad Pros (most likely successors to the existing 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch models) with Face ID, reduced bezels, and USB-C support.

Apple will also introduce an “all-new” Apple Pencil with support for USB-C. Lastly, there will be new Macs, including a “low-price” MacBook, an updated iMac, and a totally revamped Mac Mini. Apple’s autumn event is set for 30 October.

Pocket-lint will be there to bring you the latest news as it happens.
