Friday the 13th: The Game Sells 1.8 Million Copies

Jason’s about to get physical.

By Matt Porter[1]

Gun Media and IllFonic have announced that Friday the 13th: The Game[2] has now sold over 1.8 million copies across all platforms.

Plus, a physical release will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions on, you guessed it, Friday the 13th in October.

The physical edition will cost $40, and will come with a Bloody Jason skin variant for all playable Jason versions, and a clothing pack for all playable camp counselors.

Wes Keltner, head of Gun Media, said “while things haven’t been completely smooth we definitely feel confident moving forward. The team has grown and we are committed as we work to add more content, more kills, more to do and of course the single player component to the game.”

The game launched with a variety of technical issues[3] which have now been fixed. There were also fears that development on the game would stop[4], but these have now been put to rest.

IGN’s review[5] says it’s the “best Friday the 13th game ever made,” but only when you’re playing as Jason.

Prices in the US rose last year.

By Matt Porter[1]

If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber living in Europe, we’ve got some bad news for your wallets.

From August 31, the price of your subscription is going up. Any recurring fees payable by you from that date onward will be charged at the new price. However, you do have until August 31 to purchase extra months at the current price.

The annual subscription will increase from £39.99 to £49.99 / €59.99. The quarterly subscription is increasing from £14.99 to £19.99 / €24.99, and the monthly subscription is going up from £5.99 to £6.99 / €7.99.

This follows a price hike in the US[2] in August last year.

PS Plus is required to play online, but you also get free games every month. August’s line up was revealed yesterday[3].

Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition Dated for Switch

By Matt Porter[1]

It looks like Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition[2] will be coming on September 12.

The European Switch shop currently lists the game in the “Coming Soon” section with the release date.

However, no official comment has been made. A demo for the game was briefly available earlier today, but it has now been removed. No date or demo is listed on the US eShop at time of writing.

Until today, Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition was simply listed for 2017. We’ll be sure to update you when we learn more.

The new edition of the 2D platformer for Switch was announced in January[3] this year, and there will be new, multiplayer focused content included in the package.

Pokemon Minecraft Mod Shut Down

Bye Bye Butterfree.

By Matt Porter[1]

Pixelmon, the Pokemon mod for Minecraft[2], is ending development after a request from The Pokemon Company.

In a forum post[3] titled “It’s Been A Gréat Ride,” the Pixelmon development team bid its players a fond farewell.

“We have had a great time making this mod and creating such a wonderful community but after a request from the Pokémon company we will be shutting our doors,” reads the post. “I’m sorry for the disappointment this will cause but let’s remember all the great times we had playing Pixelmon, discussing Pokémon, making awesome things inside this mod and everything else that we’ve done.”

Pixelmon was an impressive mod which let you capture and play with Pokemon inside Minecraft, and you could even battle other players. The extremely popular mod has been around for several years, but it is only recently that The Pokemon Company decided enough was enough.

If you’re looking for some other mods for Minecraft now, have a look at our Wiki Page[4]. In other Pokemon news, The Pokemon Company has been teasing a reveal[5] for this Wednesday.
